Princess Dresses and PJs
Recently both my kids had a round with the stomach flu, at the same time. And for 24 hours my house was quiet.
No screams, no toys being played with (or fought over), no songs, no laughing, no crying.
After they both got a good night’s sleep I could tell they were feeling better. My son was chatty as ever (making up for lost time I suppose) and both wanted to play.
They were still lethargic and the flu eventually turned into a nasty cold, but noise was in my house again.
Some screams, toys being played with (and fought over), songs, laughing, and (as always) some crying (those darn competitive Irish twins!).
I didn’t realize how quiet it had been for 24 hours until the sound filled the walls once again. Sometimes I complain (probably more than sometimes) about the noise level, but I’ll take the noisy craziness that is my life over the quiet, stillness of a sick household any day.
I knew we had turned a corner when even though she wanted to keep her pajamas on, my daughter brought out her princess dress to wear.
Princess dress and PJs. Sometimes it's the little things that make you the happiest. Actually, it's almost always the little things.
