Review: Insurgent

Well, it wasn't Divergent. It wasn't awful but some of the magic of the first seems to have been lost. The pacing felt off to me--there were significant lulls in the "action" and times the characters felt so out of tune to what we knew of them in the first book. Both Tris and Four just felt off to me for a big chunk of this book. Not just with each other (which I understood) but just not being the same people we grew to know and love in Divergent. I don't know--it may just be the trap that a lot of second novels of trilogies fall into--sometimes they can feel like filler and not "real." Regardless, there was enough that I liked...and I'm very curious where Roth has us headed. I'm really hoping for a fantastic conclusion!
