I enjoyed this book a lot more than "Glass Sword," but it didn't quite capture everything from the first book, which I loved. However, having said that, I enjoyed it so much more than #2. I think one of the things I liked was the switching perspectives. It was nice seeing what was happening in places that Mare was not at. But as with every book that does that, there were times that I just didn't care what was happening with the alternate story--I just wanted to get back to Mare. Luckily, her perspective is where the majority of the story stays. I liked Cameron a little more in this book than I did #2--but I still found her character pretty flat. It was nice seeing a little more of the Cal I liked in book 1--but I honestly wanted more of Maven. And a lot more Evangeline and Farley.
I'm happy I was able to enjoy this series again...just in time to have to wait 6 months for the next novel.
