So often with trilogies the middle book can be a little boring. The bridge from the beginning to the end. Sure, there's action, but it can feel like "filler" at times.
That did not happen here. I RARELY like a 2nd book of a trilogy more than the first. But I did here. There wasn't a fall off, the action/tension/story kept building. I'm a fan of character development and this book added so many layers to the main characters. They are moving from survival mode to learning to adapt in new situations/environments. I suppose you can look at this book and say there was less action overall than the first BUT the development of the characters I think more than made up for that. And there is still plenty of action/adventure.
CanNOT wait for the next book!
