Having preschoolers is like constantly walking a tightrope of emotion. One wrong move and you crash and burn. Except it's not just a misstep that can cause a wreck, it's looking at them wrong. Or just looking at them. Doing something that you swear every other day they love but on that particular day it's enough to cause a complete breakdown. It's saying the wrong thing...which is usually followed by an hour of trying to figure out what the heck was said.
So, in honor of the ever-shifting moods of preschoolers, here are the top 10 reasons my daughter cried this morning.
- I didn't say "Good Morning" loud enough.
- Then I said it too loud.
- She asked for some lotion and I started to put it. I put it on the wrong spot. And then she wanted it off.
- Her brother was looking at her.
- My hair was down, she wanted it in a bun. Then the bun was not high enough.
- Her arm was not going in her sweater the right way, "No arm! This way!"
- Our dog was looking at her.
- The placemat at the table was not perfectly placed on the edge.
- I gave her the wrong cup for milk.
- I was looking at her.
And then repeat. It was a bad morning. But don't worry. It got better.
It got better after she went to bed and I got some wine.
**I wrote this awhile ago but never published it here. This list did make an appearance on my Facebook page. After a rough morning last week, I relived remembered it.**

I Had a Dream...
...that my phone bent in half and then turned into dust right in my hands. And then blew away with the wind.
I don't think that symbolizes anything, do you?
And I didn't wake up in too much of a panic... Well, I did immediately reach for my phone.
When I told my husband this story he rolled his eyes and said, "you seriously have a problem."
Love you too, sweetie.
Do you have something you don't think you could live without? And I'm talking materialistic things here, I don't want any comments saying your family or something sentimental. Because of course if I had to choose between my husband/kids and my phone I'd pick my...ummm...I mean obviously my....well....
I may have a problem.

Upon hearing her either cry or yell for me, I would enter her room and ask, "Elena, what's wrong?"
And these were the answers.
- "I have to go potty"
- "Nothing"
- "I want water"
- "I have to poop"
- "Are we going to do something fun tomorrow?"
- "Clifford fell off my bed"
- "I need a band-aid"
- "Are you in the living room or kitchen?"
- "Nothing"
- "I don't want my band-aid anymore. I have to go potty. I want more water."
Oh, did I say 10 reasons? Yeah, this want on a little longer than that. Do you have a bedtime ritual?

A Sip Away From Serenity
I recently read about a study that found our bodies anticipate the effects of beer before it even has time to get into our blood. Basically, once you take as little as a sip of beer, the brain releases dopamine (a hormone associated with rewarding activities).
I found this fascinating. How many times after an exhausting day do you just want to sit back with a cold one? And, the moment you do, don’t you immediately feel better?
And, more importantly, has this been studied with coffee?
