Top 10 Reasons My Son Cried This Morning

The terrible twos were never a huge thing for us...we had our moments with both kids (I'm not sugarcoating this--we definitely had our moments) but threes have proven to be more challenging.

I read once that three-year-olds are sometimes referred to as threenagers and I couldn't agree more. The definition of a threenager is a three-year-old that has the attitude of a teenager (specifically a 13-year-old). It's so accurate--both age groups are at delicate age, they are still young but think they are much bigger/older than they are. Three-year-olds have so many feelings and no better way to vocalize or explain those emotions than with outbursts and temper-tantrums. I sometimes refer to it as the "big feelings" stage.

So, to share what the past year has been like with my boy threenager, here's what you could expect to find during some mornings at our house. Thank goodness we are one month away from having a four-year-old because that's easier, right? Oh, wait. E's four...

  1. I helped him get in his booster seat for breakfast.
  2. I didn't help him get down.
  3. I told him to use his spoon for oatmeal.
  4. His sister talked. Not to him, she just talked.
  5. I cut the banana. Like I do every morning.
  6. The square toy didn't fit in the round spot on the toy plate.
  7. He didn't like a song that was playing.
  8. I changed the song, but too fast because he wanted to hear "one thing first!"
  9. He wanted to smell my coffee and I didn't let him grab my cup.
  10. He was standing up, dropped a toy and wanted me to pick it up for him.
