My current favorite thing is...
My neighborhood...that I'm currently rediscovering now that the weather has shifted!
I've said this before and I'm sure I'll say it again, but I don't think any other region appreciates spring more than the midwest. Ok, maybe out east, too, especially after the winter they've had...but I'm a little biased. I do live here, in the midwest, after all.
Now, I could go on and on about spring and the nice weather and the flowers and the fresh air but my favorite thing about this time of year is rediscovering our neighborhood. Talking to neighbors we haven't seen in months. Meeting new residents. Connecting with other moms at the park. Taking long walks around the 'hood and seeing what has changed over the winter months.
While winter brings hibernation, spring brings life back into the neighborhood--from the buds on the trees and budding flowers to people actually leaving their homes for more than a quick shovel or to run to their car. People slow down. Take deep breaths. Let the sun warm their skin...and their souls.
So now I'm closing my computer, gathering the kids and going to say hi to the world outside my front door. You should do the same!
Happy spring!

{P.S. Here's another post about spring, specifically how my father's death in the month of May brought some mixed feelings around this time of year.}
