My current favorite thing is...
VACATION!
We are just a couple of days away from our first warm weather destination vacation as a family of 4. In my life, I've only taken a couple vacations in the winter--I've always been a summer vacation type of gal. But after the winter we had last year, my husband and I made a decision that we would be going somewhere...anywhere...warm this winter.
Additionally, 2014 marked our 10th wedding anniversary and we really wanted to take a nice trip to commemorate this occasion. What started as an exotic getaway (Hawaii? Mexico? Jamaica? Florida Keys?) for just the two of us morphed into a family vacation to visit my husband's parents as they rent a condo in Ft. Myers every February.
And you know what? I wouldn't change it for anything.
I recently read a post from another blogger talking about her fear of being ridiculed for wanting to take a vacation with her family instead of just her spouse to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. And it's funny because in this weird way, I had the same insecurity. Especially since I told everyone who would listen (and some that probably wished I'd just be quiet) that my husband and I were going on a big celebratory anniversary trip this winter. Just the two of us. Exotic. Relaxing. Just the two of us.
Alas, plans change. After lots of thought we decided that not only did it make the most sense to do a Florida family trip but we both really wanted to do one. We are so excited to experience the first airplane ride with the kids. Their first time stepping into the ocean. A week of dedicated grammy and grandpa time they don't get often enough.
This is not to say I don't think alone time with your spouse is important. I wrote about how important it was when we took this trip a couple of years ago. Even my grandma recently gave me the best advice ever about needing date nights and alone time with your spouse. I know we're going to get another trip for just the two of us, soon. But right now I'm excited for this adventure. In a way, this is the perfect way to celebrate 10 years. That "I Do" 10 years ago started this journey and I'm happy to celebrate the family that came from that.
What my view will be like for a week. I am so unbelievably excited.
Since next week is a vacation week for me, it'll be a little different around here. I won't be posting any blog posts--my first break since I started regularly publishing on a M/W/F schedule back in September. But don't worry, I'll be back at it on Monday (March 2) with my month in review and Wednesday (March 4) recapping my vacation. However, if you can't get enough of me, then feel free to follow me on Instagram or Twittter or the blog FB page because I'm sure I'll post a thing or two on those outlets over the week. Have a wonderful week lovely readers!
