February was a quick month--and not just because it was only 28 days. Taking a week off for vacation was just what the doctor ordered. I feel refreshed and ready for March (and spring--hurry up!). I was constantly inspired while I was away and can't wait to share some fun things--more on that in a bit.
But first, a look back. Since February is the unofficial month of love I kicked things off by sharing some Instalove: my favorite Instagram accounts. I also wrote about my evolving opinion on Valentine's day and how my kids and age have affected my opinion. Because with age comes wisdom, right? Please?
Besides preparing for and going on vacation, February was all about food. I tried new foods, cooked meals and fell in love with this new room I discovered in my house--my kitchen. This food journey was a little unexpected for me, I had gotten used to being the "non-cooker" of the family and just eating the food I knew and loved. But the urge to try different things and feed my family new, good meals while also taking stress off my husband had gotten so strong that I gave into it. Plus, you know what? It hasn't been nearly as painful as I thought it would be. It's actually been fun--imagine that! Also, since I published my post about all the foods I was cooking, I made a couple more meals. Here's the proof:
Southwestern Turkey Burgers on Pretzel Buns and Fries
Crockpot Chicken Quesadillas
My most popular post by both comments and traffic this month was Jelly. I think it was because jealousy is something we can all relate to. And I don't think there is anything wrong with feeling that way, it's completely natural. It's what you do with that negative energy that matters--how you turn it around into something positive.
The "Friday Favorites" series spanned topics again this month and I started with the re-birth of an old favorite--journaling. While it's only a line a day, I've enjoyed writing down my thoughts from the day. It's even provided some inspiration for the blog. It's been fun to look back over the past couple of months and remembering things I had already forgotten. Another Friday faves installment was about my love of productive Sundays and how it helps the week to come. Finally, I gave a little preview of the vacation we were about to head out on and my love of it being a family getaway verses just the two of us (but don't worry--a couples only trip is on the horizon).
March is already filling up with some fun things: I've got my A Book A Week For A Year summary coming up next week, my new year-long (+) journey will be revealed at the end of the month and some vacation thoughts are all being prepared.
Finally, if you follow me on social media you may have seen that we had a rough experience on our flight down to Ft. Myers. I'll be sharing more about that on Wednesday. But other than that, our vacation was wonderful and I can't wait to share some pictures from our adventures.
Happy Monday dear readers, it's so nice to be back (well, except for the 60 degree temperature difference--that is NOT nice).
{P.S. If you like recaps, here's my January in Review, which includes a link to my most favorite post I've ever written.}
